Time Management

In the business world time management is key, but in the entertainment world it can be life or death. When I say this I don’t mean this literally, however without strong time management your career will suffer greatly. Often without effective time management you will lose out on opportunities, as managers and agents buyers get turned off by deals the longer people take provide answers.  In the world of entertainment everything moves incredibly quickly. With that in mind, you should always aim to respond to any form of communication within 24 hours.

No matter what business you are in, Google should be your best friend. Google apps offers some great products such as free calendars that sync to all of your devices. With a calendar you can plan out your day to effectively and efficiently take down projects, schedule meetings, and put time aside for other things you need to get done .

Make sure to always give ample time to prepare. As much as you may think that your lack of preparation doesn’t show it always does. People can see right through it. Even if your lack of preparation is not detrimental in the beginning,  eventually it will come back to haunt you. Being prepared includes always being on time. Your timeliness is someone’s first impression of you. Give yourself plenty of time to get to meetings, interviews or just anything for that matter. Being on time and holding yourself accountable is something that is good to follow throughout life. Just as you want people to respect your time you should do the same.

Effectively managing your time will not only make you more successful professionally, but will also ensure you are able to form meaningful connections and take advantage of every opportunity.

Glorified Entertainment Figures

We now live in a world where artists and celebrities influence the decisions of children, youth and everyday people. The social norm is now following what Kanye, Jay Z, Beyonce and Rae Sremmurd are wearing, doing and the issues that they are passionate about. But are we depending too much on these figures? While a lot of them are incredibly talented and have had amazing careers that does not necessarily mean that they can influence our culture and the people we become.

While most people see these stars and become immediately star struck we must remember they are people too. They put on their pants the same as we do and have families just as everyone else. Yes, their lives are more glamorous but just because they are celebrities and may have millions of followers does not mean that they should be able to influence your decisions.

Many celebrities and artists have charities and foundations which should be glorified and cherished because many dedicate themselves to their causes like Matt Damon, Ashton Kutcher and Lebron James. Lebron is not only an athlete but prides himself in being a role model. While he is often outspoken on several topics he truly tries to embody being a role model.

I hope this blog opens your eyes to how much society weighs decisions on celebrities and artists. We need to make sure we listen to positive role models and figures but understand that they are people as well. We should take their thoughts as a grain of salt and drive our own thoughts.
