I would like to thank the University of Nevada Family Medicine Department for inviting me to have a conversation about diversity and inclusion this week. Being able to speak to such an influential group of individuals on a topic both important to myself and the state of our University was a welcomed experience.
More so, I would like to thank the department in doing their part to increase diversity and inclusion on this college campus. Thank you for seeing that, as a community, we still have a long way to go to be truly inclusive. Being open to these discussions is the first step to making that goal a reality.
I would like to personally recognize Daniel R. Spogen M.D., Christie Gilbreath, and Barbara Kohlenberg Ph. D. for the opportunity to speak to the department. This opportunity meant so much to me and I know it is only the beginning of something very important.
